The Directive will come into force on 26 June 2015.
Member states will then have two years to implement the directive into national law. In the past the United Kingdom has not simply copied the provisions of EU money laundering legislation straight into law, but prepared its own variant, for example the Money Laundering Regulations 2007. It is likely we will see the draft Money Laundering Regulations 2016 in the near future.
